XMC Announces Smooth Progress with the Embedded Flash Process

On January 23, 2015, Wuhan Xinxin Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. ("XMC") announced successful process module verification of its first 55nm embedded flash technology based on the SST application solution, with high voltage and memory cell electrical test results in full compliance with design target values and the 16M memory array yield as expected. It marks an important milestone of XMC in the development of low-power embedded flash technology.

XMC started to cooperate with SST in 2014 to develop highly reliable embedded flash technology. Engineers from both sides worked together and completed technology introduction, process design, and device development and manufacturing in less than one year. Currently, the HV and cell electrical parameters of the devices fully meet expectations, and the overall circuit structure has both high reliability and low costs, fully meeting the requirements of smart cards and IoT products. Next, XMC will trial-produce the smart card products with its partner to verify the end-products’ functions and performance, thereby further optimizing the process, improving the yield, and realizing mass production.
