XMC SPI SPI NOR Flash-XM25QxxxC Wins "The Best Memory of the Year" for 2021 China IC Design Award

On March 18, 2021, the "2021 China IC Leaders Summit & China IC Design Awards Ceremony", hosted by ASPENCORE, a world-renowned technology media organization in the field of electronic engineering, was held in Shanghai. The XM25QxxxC series of XMC SPI NOR Flash products, with 50nm Floating Gate process, won the "The Best Memory of the Year" for the 2021 China IC Design Award.

The China IC Design Award, which has accompanied and witnessed the growth and development of the IC industry in the past near 20 years, is one of the most important technology awards in China's semiconductor industry. This special honor proves that XMC and its own brand SPI NOR Flash products have been highly recognized and accepted by the industry chain. XMC started to launch its own brand SPI NOR Flash products in 2017. After four years of relentless efforts, XMC's NOR Flash products have been included in the supply chain of many well-known consumer product brands, with a steady increase both in sales and shipment year by year.

Wins "The Best Memory of the Year" for 2021 China IC Design Award

XMC launched the XM25QxxxC series of SPI NOR Flash products in 2020. This series is produced by the industry's advanced 50nm Floating Gate process. The read speed can reach up to 133MHz in the voltage range of 1.65V to 3.6V (enables to support all Single/Dual/Quad I/O and QPI modes). Without any slow-down of the clock speed after the supply voltage drops, the transfer rates can surpass that of standard 8-bit and 16-bit parallel flash memories. The continuous read mode allows for efficient memory access with as few as 8-clocks of instruction-overhead to read a 24-bit address, achieving the real XIP (execute in place) operation.

The XM25QxxxC product series not only possesses outstanding performance in voltage range and data reading, but also reaches the industrial-grade operating temperature range of -40 to 105, capable of meeting the requirement of  applications of Internet of things, industrial control, communication, etc., which have strict requirements on the external working environment.

This series of products, which has been optimized in channel length, layout, design rule and peripheral circuit, enables to effectively save chip size and fully reduce the overall cost. The die size of 256Mbit high-density and wide-voltage product is about 15%-20% smaller than that of mainstream products available in the market, and it enables to support SOP 8 small-size package.

In 2020, XMC has achieved a sound performance in the Internet of Things market, among which the shipment of its own brand NOR Flash products which was used in the main chip of the IoT modules and wireless communication modules exceeded 50 million units, representing the largest shipment of domestic SPI NOR Flash chips in this field.
